Biography
Steven Dean Meyers passed away in the late hours of Jan. 17, 2012 at the young age of 54, after a courageous eight-month battle against cancer. He was born on Feb. 9, 1957, at Travis AFB, Fairfield, Calif.
He graduated from Napa High School in 1975, and resided in Napa for all of his adult life.
After high school, he went on to receive his general contractors license and was married to Susan Sands from 1978 to 2007. Over approximately 30 years, he owned his own business, Steve Meyers General Construction, and was very successful. He was always known for his incredible skills. Many of his clients became close friends.
Steve was a very active person, and was involved in almost every outdoor activity imaginable. He loved to go camping, boating and Jet Skiing with family and friends at East Park Reservoir and Lake Berryessa. Snow skiing and snowboarding, scuba diving, four-wheeling and fishing were also among some of his favorite hobbies. He had wished to one day go sky-diving, among other things.
His favorite hangout was Downtown Joe's in Napa, where he made many friends. He enjoyed going to see the live bands play and dancing with his girlfriend, Jeri. Everyone knew it was a good time when Steve was around. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving Pit Bull, Cyris. But above all, his passion was for his Indian motorcycle. He loved to go for long rides on warm summer days with friends or by himself, just to clear his mind.
Steve was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Corey Nichole Meyers, who was stillborn on May 2, 1995, as well as his father, Stanley Meyers, who also passed away after a long battle with cancer on Jan. 5, 2005.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Alicia Meyers of Napa; mother, Opal Meyers of Yountville; sister, Patricia (Roger) Foss of Santa Rosa; and two brothers, David (Leigh) Meyers of Napa and Michael (Nikki) Meyers of Napa. Also, his adored girlfriend, Jeri Gallant of Napa, with whom he spent the last four years of his life. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and even a great-niece.
A memorial celebration of Steve's life will be on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at 1 p.m., at the Tulocay Chapel, 411 Coombsville Road, Napa. After the ceremony, there will be an interment for his family in the Tulocay Mausoleum, followed by a reception for all of his friends and family at his brother, Michael's home at 1075 Tamarisk Dr., Napa.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Cancer Association of America, Kaiser Hospice or charity of donor's choice would be greatly appreciated.
