Biography
SAMUEL SANFORD
1937-2011
Samuel Robert Sanford (Hap) passed away December 10, 2011. He was born January 13, 1937 to Christianna and Stephen Sanford. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from UC Berkeley and went to work for Navalex, Mare Island, retiring after 36 years. Sam was drafted into the Army, joined the navy Reserves and retired from the National Guard Army Corps Reserves.
As intelligent as dad was, he was as patient and kind. He will be sorely missed by those that loved him. His daughters would like to thank those that helped early on during his battle with Alzheimers--Christina and Carol Mendez, Tina Tchechourka and Kim Long; and those that were there at the end--Mylene, Perry, Leni Staymen, Dr. Singer, Margaret Mackey and Hospice.
He leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Sanford (Jose Mendez) and Christie Sanford (Tim Roberts); and his two beautiful grandchildren, Sylvia and Jimmy Mackey.
To celebrate Dad and his upcoming birthday, military honors will be given at Tulocay Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held in the Tulocay Reception Center at 2:00pm on January 14, 2012 (a day after his birthday, so he can be late one last time)! Memories and words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
