WONDA LEE JOHNSON

1952-2010

Wonda Johnson, 58, went to meet her Lord on July 14, 2010.  She was born in Alameda, on April 17, 1952 to Frank and Loretta Lunsford.  Wonda was widowed at age 18 while 6 months pregnant.  She and her son, Paul, met Jon Johnson a few years later; and they became a family in June of 1976.  Son, Jason joined the family in 1978.

Wonda had a gift to work with the developmentally disabled.  She began as volunteer at the Sonoma Developmental Center at age 12.  She later worked as a behavioral assistant at the Bethesda Board and Care Home.

Wonda and Jon were foster parents, providing a safe home for many abused children.  Wonda also facilitated support groups for survivors of sexual abuse and for men of domestic violence.  She was a voice for those who needed someone to speak for them.

She also was a friend and counselor to many on-line friends. 

Wonda is survived by her husband, Jon, sons, Paul D. (Kimberly) Howell “Johnson” and Jason M. Johnson, sisters, Linda Perez, Janice (James) Robb, Carol (Wraa) Rose, Ruth Freeman; brother, Gary (Cathy) Erb; grandchildren, Christina, Christian and Christa; 15 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece; father in Christ, Leo Gracy; sister in Christ, Karyn Casey and her son Trevor, and many friends and adopted family.  She was predeceased by sons, Johnathan T. Johnson and Thomas D. Johnson; step-mother, Karen Lunsford, and mother in Christ, Iva Gracy.

A service to honor her life will be held on Monday, July 26 at 2:00pm at Hillside Christian Center.  Visitation will be Monday from 9-12am at Tulocay Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Citibank, 605 Trancas St. ABA 321171184, account, 40011905219.  Words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at WWW.TULOCAYCEMETERY.ORG.
